Psychological Associate

Judy has extensive experience working with children, youth and families in hospital, mental health and school board settings. She worked in the Child and Family Unit at Kingston General and Hotel Dieu Hospitals in Kingston from 1993 to 1998, as well as at the Hastings and Prince Edward County School Board (formerly Hastings County School Board). She relocated to York Region in 1998 and has been working in the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health at Southlake Regional Health Centre since then. Judy describes her approach to psychological assessment and treatment as integrative, drawing on a variety of frameworks and modalities to tailor the process to the individual. She provides a collaborative and strengths-based approach, working in partnership with individuals and families to understand their needs and goals, while highlighting the strengths they bring to the process. Judy draws on many years of experience in psychological assessment, including psychoeducational, developmental and mental health assessments. She also provides therapy for children, teens and adults integrating aspects of various approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy as well as play-based approaches when working with children. Judy earned a Bachelor of Science degree (Honours Psychology and Biology) from the University of Toronto in 1991, and completed a Diploma in Child Study (Assessment and Counselling) from the Institute of Child Study at the University of Toronto in 1993. Judy is registered as a Psychological Associate by the College of Psychologists of Ontario and is also a member of the Ontario Psychological Association. She has been a part of Central Ontario Psychology since 2023. Judy is available for in-person services in both our Newmarket and Barrie offices, as well as for online services.
